In Brighton, the crew respond to what initially appears a routine task: towing a yacht with a failed engine back to port. However, a sudden spring squall and towering waves transform the operation into a desperate struggle to preserve both the vessel and their own lives from being driven onto the rocks. Further east, off the Irish coast near Howth, the villagers' lifeboat crew answer an emergency call from a family on the beach. A teenage girl, sailing alone in a dinghy, has capsized and is now being carried out into the turbulent Irish Sea. Meanwhile, on Anglesey, the Moelfre crew are also responding to a distress signal – two women have entered the water to rescue a friend’s young son, who is being blown out to sea on an inflatable. But the situation rapidly shifts, and it becomes clear that the rescuers themselves are now in peril.
