At Tower, the RNLI’s busiest of its 238 stations in central London, the crew maintains watch over the River Thames when they receive a call about a man in the water, eight miles downstream. Upon reaching the scene, they find a river bus already present, and their team immediately begins a desperate struggle to secure the unresponsive man, fighting to keep him afloat as he threatens to be pulled under. Meanwhile, at the remote station of Trearddur Bay on Anglesey, the crew is dispatched to an inaccessible coastal fishing location where an angler has fallen headfirst down a cliff onto the rocks. With no helicopter available, the lifeboat crew and their small inshore vessel are the only means of transporting him to urgent medical care. Elsewhere, in Portsmouth, gale-force winds and a turbulent sea render a routine rescue exceptionally difficult.
