The discovery of Karen Hall’s body in the currents of the Manhattan River brought Detectives Briscoe and Green a grim case. Hall, an investigator with the State Attorney General's Criminal Division, had been presumed abducted from an Albany train station. Her supervisor, Frank Conroy, had readily accepted that explanation. However, as the detectives delved deeper into Conroy’s life – his possessive relationships with Hall, his wife, and a longtime companion – he swiftly emerged as a person of interest.
