The final week of preliminary rounds sees five amateur cooks facing off against one another. The week begins with the Invention Test, a demanding challenge requiring them to create an exceptional dish entirely from scratch within a single hour. No one is eliminated after this; the next hurdle is the Palate Test, notorious for its difficulty. Chef John Torode will present a beef stir-fry with choy sum and peanuts, but without prior visual reference, the contestants are given only a few minutes to taste it. They must then rely on their senses of smell and palate to accurately list all the ingredients.
