From the upper floors of a grand Vienna hotel, a man plummeted. Dr. Bansari, an Iranian diplomat and nuclear physicist, had seemingly taken his own life. Yet, why had he purchased opera tickets for that very evening? Moritz Eisner and his colleague Bibi Fellner intend to unravel the mystery, but the Iranian embassy and the Austrian Foreign Ministry swiftly intervene.
The investigation is shrouded in utmost secrecy; the deceased’s laptop and cell phone are seized. Though frustrated, the two investigators persevere. Surveillance footage from the hotel leads them to Johannes Leopold Trachtenfels-Lissé, a shadowy lobbyist who had orchestrated a clandestine agreement with Dr. Bansari.
Eisner and Fellner discover the case involves vital valves and pumps essential for nuclear reactors. A trainload of these high-grade components is slated for shipment to Iran, routed through intermediary nations. For the investigators, a desperate race against time has begun – a race complicated by the presence of the Israeli secret service, Mossad.
