Pressing Hakugo for answers about his origins, Ichiyo received the instruction to seek out the Sacred Forest. "Go to the Sacred Forest," Hakugo advised. "There, you will learn the true purpose of the nation and of the Dragon King from the sage who dwells there. It is there you will discover your own destiny, and with it, the fate of this land." Simultaneously, a plan was hatched to dispatch poets to Japan in pursuit of Konton, who had managed to infiltrate the country. Yet, driven by a desire to understand himself, Ichiyo persuaded Ransaiwa to accompany him on a journey into the Sacred Guardian Forest. And so, as Ichiyo and his companion ventured deeper into the woods, the sage of the Sealing Tree awaited them.
