Satoshi Okada, a third-year middle schooler and the choir club’s president, found himself unexpectedly addressed at the competition venue by Narita Kyoji, a man who belonged to the yakuza. "Let's go sing karaoke," he said to Satoshi. It turned out that the Matsuribayashi gang held an annual karaoke contest, and Kyoji had requested singing lessons, fearing he would be deemed the worst performer.
