In late 19th century Alexandria, the film follows the fierce competition between two traditional Turkish families, the Seferoglu's and the Tellioglu's, for ownership of the valuable 'Green Valley'. Daver Bey, a powerful local, controls their fate through his daughter Leyla. Both families seek to gain Daver Bey's favor by arranging a marriage between one of their family members and Leyla, believing this will secure the Green Valley for them.As the Seferoglu's gain the upper hand, the Tellioglus decide on a daring plan to even the odds. To gain recognition and win both the marriage and the Green Valley, they disguise their butler Saban as 'Tosun Pasha,' the highest-ranking Ottoman soldier in Egypt.
