Описание:
A storm carries a canoe with an infant boy to a remote South Pacific island. Initially welcomed as a blessing, the boy, named Tama, is adopted by the tribal chief as his heir. But as difficulties arise, Tama is eventually banished to live with Mahana, considered unattractive and unwanted, and her father. However, Tama sees something special in Mahana. When he's old enough to build a boat, he promises to return for her. Fate leads him to Johnny Lingo, the wealthiest trader in the islands, where years of work teach Tama about life and himself, fueling his determination to keep his promise to Mahana.
