Sultan Mehmed is confronted with a difficult choice: protect his empire or punish his son Beyazıd, who disobeys his commands and ignites dissent by abandoning his district amidst Karamanid demands for his surrender. As Mehmed brings Beyazıd to trial, a more extensive plot emerges. Emperor David Komnenos of Pontus and Pedri conspire with Karaman to stir rebellion among the Turkmen lords, all while Mehmed pursues a revered icon concealed within Hagia Sophia. Incensed by threats delivered by the Karaman envoy, Mehmed executes the ambassador and initiates the Pontus Campaign, aiming to dismantle Roman influence in the Black Sea, thus contending with both internal strife and the fading power of Byzantium.
