The NCIS team brokered an agreement with Paul Triff, a man convicted of murder. The terms of the deal allowed him a forty-eight-hour furlough to his former home – now the residence of Special Agent McGee. In return for this privilege, Triff would provide information potentially capable of securing a conviction against Gabriel Hicks, his former cellmate and the perpetrator who had misled Gibbs and Fornell.
