Match of the Day opens with the Watney Cup.
The opening round of the Watney Cup features two matches. Eight of the Football League's highest-scoring teams – Manchester United, West Bromwich Albion, Carlisle, Luton Town, Halifax Town, Wrexham, Colchester United, and Crewe Alexandra – compete in this compelling pre-season knock-out tournament.
Barry Davies and Alan Weeks will provide commentary for two of today’s games.
The fixtures are: Halifax Town against Manchester United, and Colchester United against Luton Town.
David Coleman will present news, perspectives, and analysis from the tournament, which is testing the controversial offside rule.
