Beni Gisler, a long-haul bus driver, witnesses the man on the bridge, but feels powerless to intervene. The body impacts the windshield, then is flung away. Gisler’s past as a train driver, marked by multiple suicide interventions, floods back with this latest tragedy.
Inspector Flückiger, acquainted with Gisler from their military service, offers support, aided by the psychologist overseeing the care team. It quickly becomes apparent that the deceased had a significant amount of benzodiazepine in his system, making self-inflicted death highly improbable. The man’s identity also presents a puzzle. Inspector Flückiger and his colleague, Liz Ritschard, initiate an investigation to unravel the circumstances.
