From the collections of Knebworth House in Hertfordshire come a curious assortment of objects. There is a pair of revealing depictions of women, once displayed in a French brothel; an extraordinary table clock featuring a floating turtle that indicates the hour; a 1573 chemist's mortar; and a Victorian toilet, gifted at some point in the past. Michael Aspel unveils these previously unseen finds from earlier editions of the series, and speaks with expert Clive Farahar about Edward Bulwer Lytton, the Victorian playwright and notorious womanizer who was the house’s former master. His tempestuous marriage ignited a significant public scandal.
