Artie, forty-two, took Johnny, twenty-six, under his wing a few years ago, employing him at Nambour Plaza Meats, Artie’s award-winning butcher shop.
Since then, Artie has nurtured his young protégé, inspiring him to pursue ever greater culinary ambitions.
“I really started enjoying cooking in high school,” Johnny remembers. “But my passion truly blossomed when I met Artie. His love of food encouraged me to delve deeper.”
Artie adds, “Food has always been central to my life. Being Mediterranean, it’s intrinsic to who we are. Life is about eating and savoring good food.”
Both men take immense pride in the quality of their craft and the meat they offer. Artie's butchery has twice been recognized with a Retail Excellence of the Year Award, and his sausages reached the state finals of the Queensland Sausage King competition last year.
