Fiona Bruce and her team find themselves welcoming thousands of visitors to the Royal Marines Museum in Southsea, just outside Portsmouth. These visitors often bring along family heirlooms: a Jolly Roger flag, for example, once flown by the crew of a British submarine during the Second World War; a wine glass now at the heart of a personal disagreement; and perhaps, most intriguingly, a doll of unsettling quality – one boasting a revolving head displaying four distinct faces, which seems to subtly come alive.
