In a small town, shy hotel cashier Pierre answers an advertisement from a Psychology Institute. Pressured by a salesman named Aldo and his promises of confidence, Pierre invests heavily in self-improvement. This newfound boldness leads him to pursue Agnes, an attractive hotel guest who draws photographers. As Agnes departs for Nice, Pierre follows, with Aldo as his coach. In Nice, Pierre works as a dishwasher at Agnes' hotel, hoping to attract her. However, she leaves again, this time for Deauville, and Pierre and Aldo relentlessly pursue her, even selling Aldo’s car to fund their journey. In Deauville, Pierre tries to win Agnes over by pretending to be a wealthy polo player. Will this unusual tactic succeed, or is it just another turn in Pierre's unpredictable pursuit?
