During the westward expansion, the building of the Great Western Railroad sparks conflict between the company and Native American tribes who view the land as sacred. The situation worsens when gang leader Santer targets a gold mine in Apache territory. He persuades the railroad supervisor to change the route directly through Apache lands. Old Shatterhand, a measurement technician, discovers Santer's plan and tries to warn the Apaches to avoid war. The film explores cultural clashes, greed, and the fight for power during a time of rapid industrial growth and territorial disputes.
