On the Indian plains, young White Bull befriends a wild stallion he names Tonka. Their friendship deepens, but tragedy strikes when White Bull's cousin takes Tonka, abusing him and forcing him to work. Determined to save his friend, White Bull sets Tonka free, hoping for his freedom.Tonka is found by Captain Keogh and the 7th Cavalry, who welcome him. In 1876, as conflict between Native Americans and the U.S. escalates, Tonka is ridden by General Custer at the Battle of Little Big Horn. Amidst the battle's chaos, Tonka is the only horse to survive, showing his strength and the lasting connection he shared with White Bull.
