In Majdal Shams, the largest Druze village in the Golan Heights, a Druze bride named Mona is set to marry Tallel, a television comedian working in Damascus, Syria. Due to the Israeli occupation of the area since 1967, they have never met, and Mona's move to Syria will mean losing her nationality and being barred from ever returning home. Her father, Hammed, is a pro-Syria political activist on Israeli probation. Her older brother, Hatten, was banished from Majdal Shams years ago after marrying a Russian woman. Her brother Marwan is a wolf trader in Italy, and her sister Amal, struggling with a troubled marriage, hopes to attend university. When the family gathers for Mona's wedding, they face frustrating bureaucratic obstacles that threaten to derail the ceremony.
