In December 1995, four young men from a local public-access TV show called "Fact or Fiction" went to New Jersey's Pine Barrens to film themselves encountering the legendary Jersey Devil. What started as a live broadcast quickly became a terrifying disaster, leaving only one survivor. He was convicted of murder within 90 minutes and sentenced to life in prison for the deaths that occurred during the expedition. A year later, an ambitious filmmaker investigates this mysterious case, trying to piece together what happened. He interviews those involved, researches the details, and uses reenactments to explore the truth about the Jersey Devil and the dark secrets hidden in the Pine Barrens that night. As he investigates, he begins to doubt his own understanding of events and confronts the unsettling possibility that reality can be more frightening than anything imagined.
