Ночь у Мод (1969)

During Christmas in Clermont-Ferrand, a devout Catholic named Jean-Louis unexpectedly reconnects with Vidal, an old friend who now embraces Marxist ideas. Maud, a recently divorced woman exploring libertine philosophies, joins their conversation. The three discuss religion, atheism, love, morality, and the philosophy of Blaise Pascal throughout the night. As Jean-Louis spends the evening at Maud's home, his Catholic beliefs about marriage, loyalty, and responsibility create inner conflict, especially since he has already confessed his feelings for someone he hasn't yet spoken to. The film explores the clash of different viewpoints, the complexities of relationships, and the difficulties of staying true to one's beliefs in a changing world.
