Victor Vautier is a master of deception, using disguises and elaborate stories in a series of cons. He hatches a grand plan to build a sea wall around Mont-Saint-Michel. A young parole officer named Charlotte becomes drawn to Victor's charm and his seemingly endless schemes. Unbeknownst to her, her apartment above the Senlus Museum – where her parents are curators – gives Victor the perfect location for a major heist. He enlists two accomplices to steal a valuable El Greco painting, intending to ransom it to the government. But as Charlotte discovers Victor's manipulations and his use of her family for financial gain, their relationship becomes strained, and their future is in jeopardy.
