News reporter Tim O'Hara stumbles upon a remarkable story when a Martian crash-lands on Earth. Instead of revealing the truth, Tim aims for a Pulitzer Prize by exposing the extraterrestrial. The resourceful alien cleverly disguises himself as Tim's Uncle Martin and begins integrating into human society while secretly planning his own course of action. Tim's attempts to expose the Martian are repeatedly thwarted. As they grow closer, the alien asks for Tim's help repairing his ship so he can return to Mars. The story examines ambition, friendship, and cultural differences as the two navigate their unusual bond and grapple with questions of belonging.
