Set in Sicily and Turin, the film follows Mimi, a worker from a small Sicilian town, as he becomes entangled in a world of politics, love, and betrayal. After losing his job and means of living for defying the local Mafia, Mimi flees to Turin, where he meets and falls for a passionate Communist activist. But the promise of a better life back home pulls him back to Sicily, leaving him divided between his new love and his past. As Mimi struggles to reconcile these conflicting worlds, he discovers his past won't stay buried. The Mafia re-emerges, complicating his relationships with his lover and his estranged wife, who reveals a hidden secret. Facing mounting pressure, Mimi must confront his inner struggles and make decisions that will determine his future and the lives of those around him. The film explores themes of loyalty, love, and identity while offering a close look at the power dynamics within a society dominated by organized crime.
