In 1960s Spain, this intense drama centers on Eleuterio Sánchez Rodriguez, known as "El Lute," a member of the quinquis – a diverse group with strong traditions and unclear origins. Raised in poverty, El Lute’s life changes after a six-month jail sentence for stealing chickens. Upon his release, he and his partner, Chelo, relocate to the slums of Madrid, becoming itinerant peddlers selling pots and pans. As they struggle to survive, El Lute turns to petty crime. His actions escalate when he participates in a jewelry store robbery that tragically results in a bystander's death. El Lute is then forced to confront the consequences of his choices. The film portrays the hardships faced by this marginalized community as Spain undergoes rapid societal change, exploring themes of poverty, identity, and the effects of crime on those living on the fringes of society.
