The film tells the intense story of Philippe Gerbier, betrayed by someone within his own group. After enduring brutal conditions in a Nazi prison camp, Gerbier escapes and returns to Marseille, a French city under Nazi occupation. Initially driven by a desire for revenge against the person who betrayed him, Gerbier then joins the city's resistance movement.
